Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall is the frontrunner to win the Republican primary to be Alabama’s next senator in 2026, according to a new poll.

Per an internal Marshall campaign poll by McLaughlin & Associates obtained by 1819 News, Marshall received 35% support while a likely candidate, U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), received 12% and former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson received 9%.

There’s still a large undecided voter population left at 44%, according to the poll.

Marshall also has the highest name ID in the race at 80%. Moore’s name ID is 56%, and Hudson’s is 39%, the poll found.

McLaughlin & Associates conducted a survey of 600 likely May 2026 Republican primary voters in Alabama from July 14 to July 17. A multi-modal approach was employed via live telephone calls and self-administered text messages. Interview selection was random, and interviews were stratified by area, race/ethnicity, age, gender and vote history to correlate with actual voter turnout from previous even-year primary elections.

The poll of 600 likely May 2026 Republican primary voters has an accuracy of +/- 4.0% at a 95% confidence interval.
