The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is asking for information in the shooting of a two-year-old early Wednesday.

Shots were fired in the 3400 block of St. Stephens Road in Prichard, around 1 a.m.

The Prichard Police Department contacted the sheriff’s office to respond.

Deputies arrived and found the child suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. They learned the boy was in bed with his parents when shots were fired.

The child was transported to a local hospital for treatment. There is no information on the child’s condition.

Sheriff Paul Burch believes the shooting was gang-related, and he believes the intended target was the victim’s teenage brother.

MCSO Major Crimes detectives have not made an arrest. They ask anyone with information to call 251-574-8633.
