The Gulf Shores Police Department arrested 109 spring breakers Thursday night after receiving complaints of a loud party at a beach house rental.

Police Chief Dan Netemeyer told 1819 News that the responding officer went to investigate and was met with hostility before he reached the door.

“The officer arrived to look into the situation, and he was standing outside, and a boy from the top balcony dumped beer on his head,” Netemeyer said.

That’s when more units were called in to arrest all 109 underage people at the party. Netemeyer said most are charged with underage drinking, and he said one person was charged with criminal liability/complicity.

The home in the 2400 block of West Beach was being rented at the time of the incident. Netemeyer said those taken into custody were from several states. Police had to use a jail van and call in surrounding agencies, including the Foley and Orange Beach Police Departments, to assist with transferring the suspects to jail.

“If they want to come here and be a part of a nice, family-friendly atmosphere, then we welcome them here,” Netemeyer said to Spring Breakers. “But if they want to come here and be interruptive, there’s a large chance they will end up in jail like those did last night.”

The names of the juveniles have not been released.
