Details in the stabbing death of retired Auburn University professor Julie Gard Schnuelle could be revealed next week in a preliminary hearing for her accused killer.
Harold Dabney III, 28, will face Lee County Circuit Judge Jeffrey Gerald Tickal on October 15.
Dabney, who is from Montgomery but moved to Auburn before the killing, is charged with two counts of capital murder.
Schnuelle, 59, was murdered on September 6 while walking her dog in Kiesel Park. Her body was discovered in a wooded area of the park.

Investigators believe that after the murder, the suspect stole Schnuelle’s truck. Dabney was later arrested.
Following the arrest, the late Charlie Kirk made a post on social media about the death. Just three days before his own murder, Kirk wrote, “It happened again. Another white woman was ‘hacked to death’ over the weekend for no apparent reason, by a suspect who is black with multiple prior arrests including illegal possession of a sawed-off shotgun and removing serial numbers from firearms in Virginia.”
Dabney’s preliminary hearing will begin at 10 a.m. at the Lee County Justice Center. He is considered innocent until proven guilty.
