President Donald Trump hosted the National Day of Prayer at the White House on Thursday morning. During the event, he recognized featured guests, including Alabama's U.S. Reps. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) and Gary Palmer (R-Hoover).

The event included Trump signing an executive order establishing the Religious Liberty Commission to safeguard and promote America's founding principle of religious freedom.

The president also highlighted his work with Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.) on what has been dubbed the "big beautiful bill."

Palmer said he was "honored" to be at the White House for the event.

Earlier in the day Aderholt posted an X message that read, "Today is the National Day of Prayer — a time to reflect, give thanks, and lift up our nation in prayer. May God continue to bless America and guide us with wisdom and strength," closing with Psalm 33:12, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord."
