The Priceville Police Department said a DUI suspect had an infant in the vehicle with him when he was arrested.
Ryan Yvez Hernandez, 27, was arrested Wednesday evening near the intersection of Shoal Creek Road and Horse Center Road.
Officers discovered a two-month-old baby in a car seat after they conducted a traffic stop.
"I want to remind the public that our department has a zero-tolerance policy for driving under the influence,” said police chief Jerry Holmes. “This behavior not only jeopardizes the safety of the driver and their family, as demonstrated in this case, but also endangers the lives of innocent individuals. We remain committed to rigorously enforcing DUI laws and will pursue every available charge against offenders."
Hernandez was charged with DUI, reckless endangerment, possession of an open container, improper lane usage, driving without insurance, and operating a vehicle with an expired tag.
He was placed in the Morgan County Jail on bonds totaling $3,500.
The infant was released to family members.
