A 17-year-old attempting to rob a gas station in Prichard was shot and killed early Saturday morning.

The Mobile County Sheriff's Office reportedly told WALA that the teenager, a male, was shot around 3:35 a.m. inside the Lucky Seven gas station and convenience store at 702 St. Stephens Road in Prichard by the store manager. The teen fled the scene on foot to the 700 block of La Fargue Street, where he was later found dead.

The deceased was reportedly found wearing a hoodie, a mask and orange gloves. Investigators said that a 9-mm. Taurus pistol was found next to his body. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the right side of his chest.

“I’ve seen a family member came around by 7 that morning,” La Fargue resident Eugene McSwain told WKRG. “They just picking the body up, but I don’t know them either; she’s hollering and hooping, throwing up.”

According to WALA, that same store was robbed earlier this month around 4 a.m. by a person wearing orange gloves and a black hoodie, similar to the deceased teen, and using the same type of gun.
