Former WBRC sports reporter Christina Chambers was honored Saturday at the Railway Marathon in Fultondale.
WBRC reported on the event, which drew nearly 1,000 people, including Mary Chambers, Christina’s mother.
“She’s here,” Mary Chambers told the outlet. “She’s here in spirit. She’s here with all these runners that loved her.”
Chambers was killed on December 16 in an apparent murder-suicide. However, runners focused on the 38-year-old's life. Registration for the marathon included $5 for Chambers’ three-year-old son.
The avid runner competed in multiple World Marathon Majors, including Boston, London, Chicago, and New York.
