On Monday, President-elect Donald J. Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance were officially certified as the President and Vice President of the United States.

Vice President Kamala Harris announced to those at the joint session of Congress that Trump and Vance received 312 electoral votes, while Harris and her vice presidential candidate Tim Walz received 226 electoral votes.

Members of Alabama's federal delegation said they were "proud" to certify the election and expressed their eagerness to get to work with the new administration.

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) declared on X, "We have just finished certifying @RealDonaldTrump's election and in 14 days, he will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. Soon we will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) wrote on X, "Proud to participate in certifying the election of our 47th President, Donald J. Trump. His resounding victory was a message that Americans want a president who will put them first—making America safe, strong, and prosperous again."

U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) said it was "time to secure the border, stop reckless spending, and Make America Great Again."

"Honored to certify the election results for President Trump and Vice President Vance," wrote U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover). "Next up, inauguration! Looking forward to working with them to secure our borders, lower inflation, and unleash American energy."

U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) wrote ahead of the certification, "It's a beautiful day for @HouseGOP to certify a landslide victory for President Trump!"

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) stated, "It's official! HISTORY was made today in Congress as we certified President-elect @realDonaldTrump & VP-elect @JDVance's landslide victory!"

U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) said it was an "honor" to certify the Trump-Vance ticket.

Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen on Monday wrote on X that he was "honored" that Alabama's electoral votes were the first ones "read into the record on this historic day."
