The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) could move its National Academy training program for local, federal and international law enforcement from Quantico, Va., to Huntsville, according to the Washington Post.
Law enforcement agencies nominate officers with leadership potential to participate in the 10-week National Academy training program.
U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) said relocating the training to Huntsville was an "excellent decision."
"Relocating the FBI's National Academy from Quantico to Huntsville is an excellent decision by FBI leadership and President Trump," Aderholt said. "North Alabama has proven itself as a vital location for federal law enforcement and national security operations."
U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) also applauded the decision.
“We must continue to get our dedicated FBI agents into the field and out of the beltway. North Alabama has the expertise and plenty of room to host the FBI's national training headquarters,” Strong said.
