The list of potential candidates for U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s (R-Auburn) soon-to-be-open Senate seat continues to grow with D.C. insider Morgan Murphy reportedly adding his name for consideration.

The Daily Caller reported on Wednesday that two sources told them Murphy, a White House and State Department senior adviser to Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, plans to run for the seat after Tuberville announced his campaign for Alabama governor.

According to the Caller, Murphy is a former national security advisor to Tuberville and was instrumental in Coach’s military promotion holds over taxpayer-funded abortions.

Murphy served in the Pentagon as the press secretary to former Secretary of Defense Chris Miller during President Donald Trump’s first administration.

“I’ve seen his mettle and calm, deliberate decision-making skills under fearsome and unrelenting stress. Alabama and the Nation will be much better off with him in the United States Senate,” Miller told the outlet.

Murphy is a Birmingham native and serves as a senior defense fellow at America First Policy Institute.
