There’s “some talk” in GOP circles about Auburn men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl running for Senate.
According to Semafor, Pearl is one of the names being thrown around to replace U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn). Tuberville, a former football coach, is expected to announce his run for governor on Tuesday.
Tuberville told the outlet he didn’t think Pearl would run.
“The compensation is a little bit different,” Tuberville told Semafor. “I wouldn’t let him do it because he did such a good job at Auburn. We need him there.”
Pearl coached Auburn to a Final Four run in the 2024-2025 and 2018-2019 seasons.
