An Iranian national who was detained by ICE in Blount County last year has been released from custody.
Ribvar Karimi was arrested in June 2025 during a multi-state ICE enforcement operation.
According to Cullman Daily, Karimi was recently released from ICE custody. Details surrounding the terms of his release and the status of any ongoing immigration proceedings have not been fully disclosed, according to the outlet.
According to DHS, ICE arrested Karimi in June in Blount County's Locust Fork.
Karimi reportedly served as an Iranian Army sniper from 2018 to 2021. At the time of his arrest, he was allegedly in possession of an Islamic Republic of Iran Army identification card. He entered the United States on a K-1 visa, which is reserved for aliens who are engaged to be married to American citizens, in October 2024, under the Biden administration.
