According to a report from Columbus, Miss. television's WCBI, Auburn University will hire Mississippi State Athletic Director John Cohen as its new athletic director with an official announcement imminent.
Cohen will fill the void left by Allen Greene, who left Auburn at the end of August.
He has served as Mississippi State's athletic director since late 2016. Before that, Cohen was State's head baseball coach, posting a 284-203-1 record with five postseason appearances in eight seasons, including the 2013 College World Series runner-up to UCLA.
One of Cohen's first tasks will likely be finding a replacement for Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin, whose days appear numbered with a 3-5 overall record and a 1-4 conference record, tied with Texas A&M at the bottom of the SEC West.
