Last week, U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) took to X to condemn President Donald Trump for posting a video that apparently accidentally autoplayed a moment from a dated video featuring Democrats on the faces of various wild animals.

According to a CNN report from Alayna Treene, sources say it led to a fracture in the relationship that has been a cornerstone of Britt's success in Washington, D.C.
Trump was reportedly infuriated by the remarks.
"He spent last weekend complaining to allies about Republicans who had condemned the video depicting the Obamas as apes, questioning the lawmakers' loyalty and vowing consequences," Treene wrote.
Trump's wrath was allegedly directed toward U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Britt. Citing a senior Trump administration official, Treene said that he felt Scott should have called him.
"Trump had even stronger words for Alabama Sen. Katie Britt, one of the sources recalled, using expletives to denounce her and declaring that she was dead to him," the report says.
Britt's office denounced the report.
"This is classic fake news by CNN," a spokesman for Britt said before citing Britt's voting record and saying that Trump and Britt spoke just this week. "Any narrative suggesting otherwise is not only misleading, it is flat out false."
The White House statement was lukewarm at best, calling her an "ally," and saying "he has great respect for her."
