Brent Comer announced recently that he is running as a Republican for State Senate District 28, pledging to bring strong conservative values, and a commitment to rural communities across the district.
Comer is challenging incumbent State Sen. Billy Beasley (D-Clayton) in the general election in November.
“I am running for State Senate because I believe it’s time for a change and I want to represent District 28 with a strong conservative voice. I pledge to listen to people across the district and stand up for common sense values,” Comer said.
Comer grew up on a farm in the Glennville community where he learned firsthand the importance of hard work, responsibility, and service to others.
“My family has lived in this district for generations. This district raised me, and I am ready to work for my neighbors who call it home,” Comer said. “Our farmers, small business owners, working families and seniors in District 28 deserve a strong leader focused on real solutions.”
After graduating from The Lakeside School, Comer attended Clemson University, where he earned a degree in agriculture and business. For the past 20 years, he has worked in the oil, gas, and energy industries as a professional landman, gaining extensive experience in contract negotiation, land and mineral management, and responsible resource development.
In addition to his professional career, Comer is a small business owner deeply invested in the local economy. He co-owns and operates C & S Bagging in Eufaula, which processes and packages corn and grains for local feed stores, and East Alabama Vending, which provides vending services to area businesses. Through these ventures, Comer has seen firsthand the challenges facing small businesses, from rising costs to workforce shortages.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our communities—and in Montgomery, I’ll fight to make sure they can grow and succeed,” Comer said.
Comer is married to Dr. Whitney Comer, and they have one son, William. They are members of the Pittsview Methodist Church. Comer is treasurer of the Pittsview Civic Society, serves on the board of the Pittsview Volunteer Fire Department, and is a member of the Russell County Cattleman’s Association and ALFA. He is also vice chairman of the Russell County Republican Executive Committee.
Comer is unopposed in the Republican primary on May 19.
