The Alabama Republican Party will open its qualifying period for the 2022 Republican Primary Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at 8:30 a.m.

"The Alabama Republican Party is excited about the 2022 election cycle,” said Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl. "We are looking forward to a vigorous campaign season and fighting for the rights and values of the people of Alabama. We plan on doing our part to help Republicans take back the U.S. House and Senate as we work to Restore America.”

On Tuesday. both the Madison and Jefferson County Republican Executive Committees announced that they are going to mirror the same 25-day qualifying period as the state GOP.

The qualifying period will end on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022 at 5:00 p.m.

The Madison County Republican Executive Committee announced that several county elected positions will be on the ballot this year, including Madison County Schools Superintendent and two Madison County Board of Education seats. Anyone wishing to run for these positions on the Republican primary ballot must qualify with the Madison County GOP. Additionally, persons wishing to run for a seat on the Madison County Republican Executive Committee must qualify with the Madison County GOP during this period.

The Jefferson County Republican Executive Committee – the governing body of the Jefferson County GOP - announced that several county elected positions will be on the ballot this year, including all five (5) County Commission seats, Jefferson County Sherriff, and several Jefferson County Board of Education positions. Anyone wishing to run for these positions on the Republican primary ballot must qualify with the Jefferson County GOP.

Additionally, persons wishing to run for a seat on the Jefferson County Republican Executive Committee must qualify with the Jefferson County GOP during this period.

Qualifying will open on-line at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at www.jeffco-gop.com. For additional information or questions about the qualifying process, please contact Jefferson County GOP Treasurer Chris Brown at 205-533-5127.

Positions up for election on the 2022 ALGOP Primary ballot include:

Alabama Constitutional Offices (Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Commissioner of Agriculture and Industry, Treasurer, and State Auditor);

One (1) U.S. Senate seat – the seat currently held by Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Alabama), who is retiring;

All seven (7) U.S. House seats;

Two (2) Alabama Supreme Court seats;

Two (2) Public Service Commission seats;

Four (4) Alabama Board of Education seats;

All 105 Alabama House of Representatives seats;

All 35 Alabama Senate seats;

All District Attorney positions;

Dozens of Circuit and District Court judicial seats.

Additionally, 212 seats for the ALGOP State Executive Committee – the governing body of the Alabama Republican Party – will appear on ballots. They are divided up across all 67 counties. Some are at-large seats for a particular county, while others are for districts within a county.

Anyone wishing to qualify for the Republican ballot can do so on-line at www.algop.org or in person at ALGOP headquarters starting Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022 at 8:30 a.m.
