Out of a crowded field of seven candidates, Ron Tyler earned the top spot in Tuesday's municipal elections to become the new mayor of Florence.

Tyler, who recently retired as Florence police chief, earned 3,087 votes, or 51.4%, while Steve Holt came in second with 1,247 votes.

Kaytrina Simmons won City Council Place 1 with 440 votes; Jackie Hendirx won District 2 with 499 votes; Robert "Ry" Griffin won District 2 with 500 votes; and Alisa Dickson won District 3 with 458 votes.

Jennifer Spry earned 471 for Florence City School Board District 3, defeating incumbent Lynn Sparks.
