She is the voice and face of Health Freedom Alabama.
She runs a citizen lobby with the Alabama Legislature on bills impacting Alabama’s health freedom.
Stephanie Durnin is a mom in Baldwin County. She does not hold an elected office, any paid job in government or any special interest group.
So, how did she get to effectively become “Mrs. Health Freedom of Alabama?”
A lot of study, work and prayer.
There is a particular person big in today’s national news who also influenced Stephanie, as she prefers to be called, to take the lead in working to “Make Alabama Healthy Again.”
It is Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., newly confirmed and at work as the secretary of Health and Human Services in the second Trump administration.
Here is Stephanie Durnin’s personal, heart-wrenching story:
From Heartbreak to Hope: My Journey with RFK Jr. and the Fight for Health Freedom
A Personal Note from My Heart to Yours…
Yesterday, something truly remarkable happened, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was confirmed as HHS Secretary.
For many, it was a political milestone. But for me, it was something far more profound, a deeply personal and meaningful moment.
It brought me back to 2019, on the lawn of our nation's Capitol, surrounded by thousands of parents who, like me, carried a story of heartbreak.
I was there at an event with a picture of my beautiful son whose life changed forever after his 12-month vaccines.
He was just one years old when he had a severe and life changing reaction to his shots. He screamed, a piercing, high-pitched scream for 24 straight hours. I will never forget that sound. It still echoes in my heart.
Then came the silence.
After he collapsed in exhaustion, and the crying stopped... so did his words.
For six months, he lost every bit of language he had gained. My joyful, chatty little boy was suddenly gone, and we didn’t know if he’d ever come back.
We searched desperately for answers. Finally, a specialist confirmed what we feared—a vaccine injury that resulted in encephalopathy (brain swelling) and other auto-immune issues.
So, on that day in Washington, when I stood holding a picture of my son face-to-face with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., I carried more than a photo. I carried my pain, my anger and my hope.
I told him our story.
And he listened.
Not the kind of polite listening you get from someone who’s heard it all before. But real listening. The kind where you feel seen.
He nodded, not in pity, but with the understanding of a man who had heard this same story thousands of times and still felt the weight of every single one.
After I shared our story with RFK Jr., I prayed with him. I prayed that God would use him, protect him, and open doors before him because I knew his voice carried the strength we all needed.
And now, 11 years after my son’s injury, something I could barely dream of has happened. RFK Jr. is in a position to make real change.
I felt joy yesterday. Real, deep joy.
Not because everything is suddenly fixed—it isn’t. And not because the fight is over—it isn’t.
But because for the first time, I feel hope. Hope that the man I prayed for, the man who listened to my son’s story, is now in a place to listen to millions more and demand answers that too many have tried to bury.
I never imagined that, just two years after meeting Robert F. Kennedy Jr., I would help found Health Freedom Alabama, driven by the pain of our experience, the harsh truth about Big Pharma’s corruption, and the urgent fight ahead as vaccine and mask mandates loomed over us.
I know the road ahead will still be hard. But I also know this: We didn’t come this far to stop now. The fight for health freedom, for truth, for accountability, and for our children’s future isn’t over. But we are no longer fighting alone.
MAHA is a force to be reckoned with and it’s only going to get bigger.
One day, I will sit with my children and tell them about this day. About how pain became purpose. About how we fought when it felt impossible. And about how, together, we witnessed the dawn of a future I have prayed for—a future where families are heard, where our children are protected, and where the health of our country is guided by truth, compassion, and freedom.
