The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a robbery attempt and shooting that occurred Saturday morning in Birmingham.
Deputies were called to the 3200 block of Mulga Loop Road at 6:30 a.m. for a person shot.
The caller told 911 that a 33-year-old man had attempted to rob the occupants of the home and was shot. The man then ran into the woods.
Deputies searched for the victim but were unable to locate him.
He was later taken into custody near Carraway Boulevard and was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment.
The suspect's name has not been released. He will be booked into the Jefferson County Jail after he is discharged from the hospital.
