A Russellville firefighter was among those arrested in a recent child sex sting in Limestone County.
The Limestone County Sheriff's Office conducted a targeted operation that resulted in nine arrests, including Donald Devaney, 52.
On March 14, Devaney was charged with two counts of first-degree human trafficking, two counts of electronic solicitation of a child and two counts of traveling to meet a minor for an unlawful sex act.
Monday the Russellville City Council approved Devaney’s termination from the Russellville Fire Department.
According to local news reports, Devaney was promoted to lieutenant in 2023, and he worked with the Alabama Fire College.
Chief Joe Mansell has not answered a media inquiry from 1819 News.
