Moments into the 61st appearance of ESPN’s "College GameDay" at the University of Alabama’s campus, Nick Saban let the world know that the Crimson Tide have avenging last year’s loss on their mind.

“Let me say one thing: Revenge is not supposed to be a factor, but it is a factor today,” Saban said.

Last year, Vanderbilt shocked the nation by beating the No. 1-ranked Crimson Tide for the first time since 1984. Vanderbilt is not sneaking under anyone’s radar this season, as the Commodores have improved since last season and have climbed to the No. 16-ranked team in the nation.

“This is a different Vandy team,” Kirk Herbstreit said. “They’re better. They’re more mature. They’re more experienced than they were a year ago. They are not intimidated.”

After Herbstriet’s comments, Saban backed his former team.

“Let me speak up for Alabama now. We’re better, too,” Saban said.

Last year, Vanderbilt took the nation by surprise with their success on the football field. The win over Alabama has launched the Vanderbilt program into a respected one in the SEC that cannot be taken lightly anymore. The Commodores are off to one of their best starts ever, sitting at 5-0, ranked No. 16 in the AP Top 25 and averaging the second most points in the SEC at 49 points per game.

Today, Alabama will seek to avenge its loss to Vanderbilt, which derailed its chances of making the College Football Playoffs last season.

Kickoff for the game between Alabama and Vanderbilt will be at 2:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ABC.
