Residents of north Alabama were delighted to see former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin visit over Memorial Day weekend.
While traveling and visiting family, Palin stopped in Marshall County for lunch at Walker's Carry Out in Union Grove.
"It’s not every day that THE. SARAH. PALIN. visits us at Walker’s!!!" the restaurant posted on Facebook. "Porky fries for the win!! Thanks for stopping by, Sarah Palin!!"
A spokesperson for Palin said she was in the area for a family wedding and was "loving her time there with family from all over, including Alaska and NY."
Walker's Carry Out owners Larinda and Michael Walker said Palin's visit was "a highlight" of their 31 years in business.
"We were honored to serve her. She and her family were very kind and gracious!" Larinda Walker told 1819 News. "She took time for pictures and even spoke with some of our customers. The interest in her visit certainly gave us a boost over the weekend. We’re thankful she chose our small business to visit while she was in the area."
Larinda Walker said Palin was the second famous person to eat at her establishment after Vince Gill visited in the 90s.
