Joe McDonald will be the next mayor of Saraland after winning with a 1,981 to 827 tally against councilman Wayne Biggs.
Mayor Howard Rubenstein did not seek re-election.
McDonald ran as a "mayor for the people" and was endorsed by Rubenstein.
Council Place 1 went to Chris Andrews with 85.4% of the vote. Place 2 went to incumbent Newton Cromer, who received 52.9% of the vote.
Place 5 will be decided in a runoff between incumbent Veronica Hudson and challenger Chris Jessee. Hudson received 32.7% of the vote, and Jessee received 45.7%.
