Multiple agencies are searching for a missing fisherman from Mobile County.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office said the 20-year-old was fishing at Cedar Point Pier when he fell while trying to untangle a fishing line. The fall was reported around 2:14 a.m. on Thursday.
“As he attempted to jump down from the rail, his foot slipped, causing him to fall backward over the railing and into the water,” the sheriff’s office stated. “He was subsequently carried by the current underneath the pier in an eastward direction toward the bridge.”
The United States Coast Guard, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Marine Patrol Division, and Daphne Search and Rescue are assisting in the search around Mobile Bay and the Mississippi Sound.
