An apparent rift has formed between former President Donald Trump and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) ahead of his visit to Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday.
The SEC has barred Trump from appearing on the field.
Trump is slated to make his second-ever trip to Tuscaloosa's Bryant-Denny Stadium to watch the Alabama Crimson Tide take on the Georgia Bulldogs.
Trump’s visit comes on the heels of the upcoming November presidential election, which has created heightened security for the event, especially since the former president has faced multiple assassination attempts during his campaign.
Despite the safety concerns, multiple sources have told 1819 News that Trump wanted to appear on the field.
However, Trump’s request did not sit well with the SEC, which, according to sources, saw the former president's appearance on the field as a distraction.
1819 News made multiple attempts to contact representatives of the SEC; those calls were not returned.
The University of Alabama initially told 1819 News in a statement that it was working with state and federal law enforcement to ensure security at the game. However, it did not respond when further pressed about Trump taking the field.
