MONTGOMERY – Members of the Alabama Senate confirmed former Vestavia Hills City Councilman George Pierce to the Alabama Ethics Commission on Wednesday.

Pierce was appointed to the commission by Gov. Kay Ivey to fill one of her two vacancies.

Pierce served on the Vestavia Hills City Council from 2008 to 2025.

Pierce told 1819 News in an interview on Wednesday, “I’m excited about serving the citizens of Alabama.”

“I was ready to do something else, and I expressed an interest in getting involved in Montgomery, and the Ethics Commission opportunity came up, and I said, ‘I would like that. That sounds interesting,'” he added. “I’m excited about the opportunity to serve. I’m a strong advocate for ethics. It’s got to be done right, but I’m also willing to listen and learn.”
