The Senate voted to confirm Wells Griffith as President Donald Trump’s Under Secretary of Energy at the Department of Energy on Wednesday.

The nomination was approved on a vote of 54-43.

Griffith, a Mobile native, also worked for the Trump administration in his first term.

“Today I was proud to vote to confirm Mobile native Wells Griffith as Under Secretary of Energy," U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) said on Wednesday. "For Under Secretary Griffith, this isn’t energy future and dominance is integral to our state and nation. He understands firsthand how access to affordable, reliable energy is critical for Americans from coast to coast. Under Secretary Griffith will work diligently to fuel America’s economy, lower costs for families, and create good-paying jobs."

"I know his expertise will support Secretary Wright’s mission of strengthening our national security and implementing President Trump’s all-of-the-above, America First energy agenda,” she added.
