All seven appointments have been made to the newly restructured Birmingham Regional Water Board ahead of its first meeting on Wednesday.

Governor Kay Ivey announced on Tuesday that she had appointed Jefferson County resident Thomas Hudson Jr. to the new board. Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin appointed Jarvis Patton Sr., and the Birmingham City Council appointed Jefferson County Commissioner Sheila Tyson.

Jefferson County Commission President Jimmy Stephens has appointed Phillip Wiedmeyer, Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth picked Bill Morris. The Shelby and Blount County commissions picked Jeff Brumlow and State Rep. David Standridge (R-Hayden).

Ivey signed legislation into law on Wednesday, changing the way the entity formerly known as the Birmingham Water Works Board is governed after years of controversies and mismanagement.
