Seven Auburn Tigers were selected in the 2026 MLB Draft on Saturday and Sunday in Philadelphia.
Auburn has now had multiple top-10-round draft picks in a program-record eight straight seasons, including a program record five top-10-round picks in back-to-back seasons. The Tigers have 30 top-10-round picks in 11 seasons under head coach Butch Thompson.
A First Team All-SEC and Second Team ABCA All-Southeast Region selection in 2026, second baseman Chris Rembert was selected 51st overall in the second round by the Pittsburgh Pirates, becoming the sixth-highest draft pick under Thompson.
Rembert led Auburn with a .343 average and 80 hits last season, scoring 37 runs and adding 13 doubles, one triple, four homers, 46 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. He ended the year on a 19-game hitting streak, the longest by an Auburn player since Anfernee Greier’s 22-game streak in 2016.
Starting pitcher Alex Petrovic jump-started Auburn's selections on Day 2 of the draft, going in the sixth round to the New York Mets with the 181st overall pick. Often tabbed as the most consistent starter this season, the right-hander posted a 10-2 record, tied for the team lead in wins, in 17 starts and struck out 92 batters.
Reliever Ryan Hetzler was next off the board for the Tigers as the Los Angeles Rams grabbed him in the seventh round with the 199th pick. Going 4-2, he walked just five batters with 11 saves and 38 strikeouts.
Third baseman and 2026 team captain Eric Guevara was also selected in the seventh round, six picks after Hetzler, to the Miami Marlins. After battling injuries in his first two seasons on the Plains, Guevara earned All-SEC Defensive Team honors and posted a .322 average at the plate with 13 homers, 12 doubles and 55 RBIs.
Pitcher Drew Whalen was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the ninth round, 280th overall. The Western Kentucky transfer and 2025 C-USA Pitcher of the Year was sidelined for the remainder of the year after an arm injury in the first weekend of SEC play.
Pitcher Garrett Brewer rounded out the group of Tigers selected, going in the 12th round with the 344th overall pick to the Colorado Rockies. The left-handed junior posted a 1-2 record in 17 appearances and tied for the team lead with three saves, striking out 26.
The fifth pitcher and final selection of the draft for the Tigers was Jett Johnston, who was selected 396th overall in the 13th round by the Detroit Tigers. Johnston ranked fourth on the team with 15 relief appearances and registered career bests in innings pitched (24) and strikeouts (31) while issuing just six walks.
This year's draft marked the 52nd consecutive year Auburn has had at least one player selected in the MLB Draft, which is tied for the longest streak in the SEC. It marks the 11th straight season under Thompson that the Tigers have had at least one top-five-round pick, also the longest streak in program history.
Three Auburn signees were drafted, with two-way player Coleman Borthwick headlining the group as the 21st overall pick by the San Diego Padres. Shortstop Jace Matacynski was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the third round, and pitcher AJ Rice was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the seventh round.
