Seven illegal aliens from China, Mexico, and Guatemala employed at a Chinese buffet in Albertville were detained by local and federal law enforcement on Friday.

A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told 1819 News DHS assisted the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and Albertville Police Department in the operation at Chow King Buffet & Grill.

Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims told the Sand Mountain Reporter on Friday, "We had a warrant for a Chinese Nationalist that New York state had warrants on for Fraud. Homeland Security called us about serving that warrant and they insisted on us serving it at Chow King where he was employed.”

“He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Marshall County Jail,” Sims told the outlet. “While we were making the arrest ICE did identify 6 other individuals that were here illegally in the restaurant as employees. There were three Mexican-nationals and three Guatemalan-nationals. They have been taken into ICE custody and transported to Etowah County for ICE Detention. Everyone asks me when I go somewhere, when is ICE coming. I just want to let people know the Sheriff's Office and our local PDs are working with ICE on getting individuals who have criminal records and who are here illegally off the streets of Marshall County. This is just one of many operations that will take place over the next several months."
