Congresswoman Terri Sewell (D-AL07) announced that she is hosting a food giveaway in Choctaw County.
Sewell and volunteers will be giving away boxes of free food items Monday at the Pennington Town Hall parking lot, beginning at 11 a.m., until supplies run out.
The Pennington Town Hall Parking Lot is at 322 Co. Road 33, Pennington, AL 36916.
Sewell will arrive at approximately 12 p.m.
Sewell is in her sixth term representing Alabama’s Seventh Congressional District. She periodically hosts food giveaways throughout the Seventh Congressional District – the poorest of Alabama’s seven congressional districts.
The median household income in the Seventh Congressional District is $38,023. In Choctaw County, it is $35,892 and in Pennington, it is $30,883. The median household income in Alabama is $51,734, while the median household income in the USA is $68,703. Pennington has a population of 329 in the 2020 Census. Choctaw County has a population of 12,665 (2020) – down from 13,859 in 2010.
