After suffering from an unspecified "medical emergency" on Monday evening, Sheffield Mayor Bryan Van Devender was medflighted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Tennessee.
According to Sheffield Fire chief Matt Mothershed, an emergency call was placed just after 10:20 p.m., with Van Devender, 55, being transported to Helen Keller Hospital shortly after. From Helen Keller, he was taken to the medical center at Vanderbilt.
Sheffield officials are awaiting an update from the Mayor's family as to his condition.
