Shomari Figures will speak at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Thursday.
Figures, a Democrat, is running against Caroleene Dobson, a Republican, in the November general election to represent Alabama's second congressional district. The race is a rare competitive general election in Alabama after the state's congressional map was redrawn by court order last year.
"I am honored to be chosen to speak on behalf of Alabama and the voters of District 2," Figures said. "Now is the time to energize our party, educate and organize our communities, and encourage people to vote on November 5th."
Figures will speak on Thursday night ahead of presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris.
