On Wednesday, on Mobile radio's FM Talk 106.5's "The Jeff Poor Show," chief counsel to Alabama's attorney general, Katherine Robertson, discussed the recent assassination attempt on President Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner.
According to Robertson, a candidate for attorney general, Trump's positive impact in the Oval Office has caused factions of the left to support or engage in violence for political gain.
"We've had some crazies come after our office. You might remember we had the Antifa wannabe nail bomber outside the AG's office," recalled Robertson.
"So we know a little bit about that," she continued. "I think Trump said something very profound at the press conference. He said he had studied assassinations and that only effective leaders have assassination attempts or successful ones. It's remarkable how many people have tried to hurt him."
Robertson pointed to the December 2024 murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson as yet another example of liberal supported violence.
"The left, unfortunately, is sinking into this abyss of feeling justified," she outlined. "Now, obviously, I don't mean everybody on the left, but there is a segment on the left. It kind of made me think of that United Healthcare CEO who was murdered, and like they told people, and they supported it, because they said the insurance company was bad. Since when did we start rationalizing things that way? And so we're in a very bad place."
Added Robertson, "I don't think the rhetoric helps, but I also do think it underscores that the President continues to ruffle feathers in a way that's good for normal people and really bad for radicals."
