All picks are in from the 20-round 2023 MLB Draft, and Alabama finished with six players selected from their 2023 roster. The six selections were the most taken from the program since the 2016 MLB Draft.

Redshirt junior Andrew Pinckney was the first Alabama player to come off the board when the Washington Nationals selected the outfielder in the fourth round with the 102nd overall pick. Pinckney was one of the Tide’s top offensive players this year with a .339 batting average with 18 home runs and 58 RBIs on the season.

Just 10 picks later, the second Alabama player was selected in the draft when the Arizona Diamondbacks selected pitcher Grayson Hitt in the fourth round with the 112th overall pick. Hitt started his career at Alabama in the bullpen before working his way up into the starting rotation over the past two seasons. Hitt underwent Tommy John surgery in April, limiting the left-handed pitcher to just eight starts in 2023 with a 3-1 record striking out 49 batters in 38.2 innings.

Next off the board for the Crimson Tide was Hunter Furtado. The Pittsburgh Pirates selected the left-handed pitcher in the sixth round with the 167th overall pick in the draft. Furtado pitched 36 innings last season striking out 38 batters and finishing with a 1-1 record with most of his work being done in relief appearances.

The fourth and final Alabama player selected on day two of the three-day draft was outfielder Caden Rose, who was taken by the Boston Red Sox in the seventh round and 208th overall. Rose played in 48 games last season for the Tide despite battling injuries. The Bob Jones High School (Madison, Ala.) standout hit .261 for Alabama, hitting nine home runs and driving in 26 runs while swiping a team-high nine bases.

On Tuesday, the final day of the draft, Alabama shortstop Jim Jarvis was selected in the 11th round and 320th overall by the Detroit Tigers. Jarvis started all four seasons with the Tide, finishing 2023 with a .273 batting average with 10 doubles, six home runs and a team-high four triples. Jarvis also was tied with Rose for a team-high nine stolen bases.

The final player taken from Alabama was Garrett McMillan by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 14th round and 407th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft. McMillan struggled with injury in his 2023 campaign and was limited to just 10 appearances as a senior. Nine of his 10 appearances were starts for the Crimson Tide finishing with a 4-2 record and a 4.89 ERA over 42.1 innings pitched.

To go along with the six Alabama players selected, the Tide also saw three of their signees get selected in the 2023 MLB draft. Bryce Eldridge was selected by the San Francisco Giants with the 16th overall pick in the first round, the New York Mets selected shortstop AJ Ewing in the fourth round, and pitcher Jeremy Pilon was taken by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 18th round.

Alabama has now had 170 players drafted in the history of the program, with at least one player drafted for 45 consecutive years dating back to 1979. In 52 of the 58 MLB Drafts in history, Alabama has had at least one player selected.

Any of the players with remaining eligibility can still return and play for Alabama if they choose to not sign a professional contract.
