HOMEWOOD — The scene on Friday afternoon was again loud and chaotic as Black Lives Matter protesters blocked traffic and disrupted businesses, shouting and chanting in downtown Homewood. The event resulted in six arrests by the Homewood Police Department for disorderly conduct.
The group was chanting and shouting, including demands for people to "Stop Shopping here," while also saying "Justice for Jabari," and "Jabari Peoples."
Peoples was shot in what the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office alleged was a justified shooting after he struggled with a law enforcement officer trying to detain him before retrieving a firearm from his vehicle.

Multiple African flags can be seen being carried alongside a handwritten "Black Lives Matter" sign. Other printed signs were also present, including one that said, "Being born a black male is not a crime, Bad policing should be #Justice4Jabari Boycott Homewood."
Homewood Police Department put out a statement explaining that, "at approximately 2:00 PM, the Homewood Police Department began receiving multiple calls from merchants, motorists, and citizens about a large group of disorderly persons obstructing traffic on 18th Street South in downtown Homewood."
Photos and videos provided to 1819 News show the arrests being made as individuals blocked traffic on 18th Street South.
According to Homewood Police, "Three of those six individuals were armed with handguns and were additionally charged with Possessing a Firearm while Participating in a Demonstration. One of the armed individuals was also charged with Resisting Arrest."
Three of the arrested individuals were from Louisiana, and the other three were from Alabama.
"Homewood Police officers also towed a vehicle that was used to facilitate the disorderly conduct by obstructing the flow of traffic. All six arrested individuals were transported to Homewood City Jail and are currently in the process of posting bond," the police statement says.
