MONTGOMERY — After several lengthy rounds of hazing from her Democrat colleagues, State Rep. Cindy Myrex (R-Cullman) ushered Senate Bill 12 (SB12) through the House into passage by a 98-0 margin, with four abstentions.
The legislation repeals Senate Bill 322 (SB322), which laid the groundwork for a resort project including golf courses, restaurants, a hotel, and other outdoor activities in an area that would have been annexed into the City of Cullman but was not contiguous to the actual city.

The legislation received overwhelming support in the House and Senate and was signed into law by Gov. Kay Ivey.
Myrex carried the bill sponsored by State Senate Pro-Tem Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman), which passed the Alabama Senate earlier in the session.
Gudger pre-filed the bill in August after local pushback against the law, which was a prominent issue in both the State House Districts 11 and 12 special elections in Cullman County in 2025.
Despite ultimately voting for the measure, House Democrats took issue with the bill being the first full repeal of an already passed law in recent memory.
