Investigators with the Walker County Sheriff's Office said a South Korean national traveled at least three times to have sex with a child he met online.
Hyeonsoo Ko, 24, is charged with three counts of traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act, two counts of second-degree rape, two counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of enticing a child to enter a vehicle/residence.
"This case is another reminder of the dangers our children face both online and in person," the sheriff's office stated. "Predators will travel across state lines — and even across the world — to target children.
"We encourage parents to stay involved in their children's online activity, know who they are communicating with, and report anything suspicious immediately."
Ko was placed in the Walker County Jail on bonds totaling $250,000.
