On Tuesday, the Southern Poverty Law Center Action Fund endorsed Birmingham's Mayor Randall Woodfin for reelection.

Woodfin is one of five candidates in Alabama to have their endorsement this cycle, according to the group's website.

In a Facebook post, Woodfin said, "Birmingham carries a legacy of struggle and resilience. I'm honored to have Southern Poverty Law Center Action Fund by my side as we carry forward the fight for justice and dignity."

The endorsement is a far cry from the ones the organization made for Barbara Drummond in Mobile or Ciara Smith in Annison, which included quotes of support, as opposed to simply listing biographical details.

A statement on their website said, "Randall Woodfin is running for reelection as mayor of Birmingham, Alabama. Prior to assuming office as mayor, Woodfin served his community in numerous capacities, including in the Mayor's Office Division of Youth Services, as an assistant city attorney and as president of the Birmingham Board of Education. As mayor, Woodfin has prioritized creating pathways to economic prosperity for all of Birmingham's residents by investing in infrastructure, education and housing, and working to improve public safety through criminal justice reform, mental health support for youth and violence reduction programs."
