The Spanish Fort Police Department is investigating a possible home invasion where the intruder was shot.
Police responded to a call about a shooting at 12:15 a.m. Saturday in Spanish Fort Estates.
A 17-year-old male was suffering from a gunshot wound. Police performed emergency first aid until the teen was airlifted to the hospital.
The teen underwent surgery and is stable but in serious condition.
The investigation determined the homeowner shot the teen after he made a forcible entrance into the home. It is believed the suspect had been at another home nearby earlier in the evening.
The homeowner was not charged, but charges are pending against the juvenile suspect.
