House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter (R-Rainsville) announced on Wednesday that State Rep. Troy Stubbs (R-Wetumpka) has been appointed to the vice chairmanship of the House Committee on County and Municipal Government.
Now-former State Rep. Debbie Wood (R-Valley) previously held the position, but resigned from the House of Representatives last month.
"Rep. Stubbs has served on the House Committee on County and Municipal Government for the last several years, and his previous experience on the Elmore County Commission makes him the obvious choice to step into the role of vice chairman," Ledbetter said in a statement. "The work of this committee directly impacts the success of Alabama's local governments, and I have full confidence that Rep. Stubbs will continue to fight for commonsense conservative policies that help counties and municipalities better serve citizens."
Stubbs was elected to the Alabama House in 2022 and previously served as an Elmore County Commissioner.
"I am honored that Speaker Ledbetter has appointed me to serve in this important capacity," Stubbs also said in the statement. "As vice chairman, I will work to ensure that this committee's actions reflect House leadership's commitment to equipping local governments with the necessary tools to best serve Alabamians. With many counties and municipalities experiencing tremendous growth in both population and economic development, I look forward to leveraging this new role to support and build on that success."
