Some voters at St. Clair County precincts were turned away on Tuesday due to a “printing error” on ballots that didn’t include constitutional and local amendments.

St. Clair County Probate Judge Andrew Weathington told reporters on Tuesday morning the omission was due to a “printing error” from a vendor and he didn’t know how many ballots were affected.

“We’re working very, very hard to get it fixed,” Weathington said. “Some of our inspectors opened their first round of ballots to find that some of the ballots didn’t have the local amendment and the constitutional amendment that were printed on the back of the ballot. At that point we notified our printing vendor. At that point, we notified the Secretary of State along with all of our local officials who are aware. We’re working diligently to get new ballots printed.”

St. Clair County Circuit Judge Phil Seay ordered 15 precincts in the county to stay open an extra two hours on Tuesday until 9 p.m.
