With the Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) set to hear a residency challenge by Ken McFeeters on GOP gubernatorial nominee U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), party chairman State Rep. Scott Stadthagen (R-Hartselle) promised transparency and "no backroom deals."

According to Stadthagen, McFeeters, who got 9% of the vote compared to Tuberville's 85% in the May primary, had checked off the appropriate boxes to initiate a challenge. He added that the hearing and a decision would all be made on the same day.

"As chair, I believe in transparency," Stadthagen said on "Rightside Radio." "I believe in everyone knowing what's taking place. There's not going to be any room for any backdoor, doing all this. No, we will be up front, honest and transparent with the citizens of Alabama. And I will literally, right after this hearing, go straight to you guys and say, look, these are the facts, this was the decision, and we are moving forward. And there's no backroom deals. There's none of that. This is transparency. Everybody's going to know what's going on. And there's no backroom deals, I promise you that. We are respecting the challenge because it's a valid challenge, and we are going to proceed forward as we should."

The ALGOP chair went on to say that the decision would be final for the party.

"As far as the party is concerned, this is it," Stadthagen stated. "We are done."
