Eight candidates running for state office are calling for an investigation into the shady practices of an out-of-state political action committee (PAC) with ties to big gambling entities.

The American Conservative Fund is a pro-gambling PAC based in Arlington, Va. It has received over $26 million in donations since November 2025 from Win for America, a PAC funded entirely by gambling interests such as DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics Betting & Gaming, according to Federal Election Commission records.

The Fund is responsible for several campaign mailers sent to voters and TV ads on behalf of various candidates, apparently without the candidates' consent. However, it has failed to submit any financial records to the Alabama Secretary of State's Office.

"The people of Alabama have no clear understanding of how much of that money is being spent here, because the PAC has failed to provide the timely and transparent financial disclosures required under state law," the candidates stated in a joint letter. "State requirements are not ambiguous, and we demand immediate action."

The candidates are seeking answers to who is behind the "massive political effort," how much is being spent "to influence Alabama elections," and why the group has not disclosed any financial reports.

"The American Conservative Fund is a federal PAC, and it is raising and spending money for Alabama political candidates," the letter stated. "Despite these clear facts and legal requirements, this PAC continues to secretly spend significant sums of money influencing Alabama elections without being held accountable by Alabama election officials."

The letter continued, "This issue is not about gambling itself. It is about transparency, the rule of law, and ensuring that the people of Alabama have the information they deserve. No out-of-state corporate interest should be allowed to ignore the law in order to secretly influence our elections."

Signees included: Joe Freeman, candidate for Alabama House District (HD) 95; Danielle Duggar for HD96; Maurice McCaney for HD1; Kaycee Cavender for HD40; Tim Manning for HD101; Mike Van for Senate District (SD) 32; Terry Waters for SD22 and J. R. Bowling for SD4.
