State Sen. Larry Stutts (R-Tuscumbia) announced on Thursday he’s running for reelection to represent Alabama’s Senate District 6.

Stutts was first elected to the State Senate in 2014.

“I am honored to have served the people of Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence and Limestone counties in Montgomery,” Stutts said. “Over the last decade, I’ve worked to strengthen healthcare in our rural communities, defend our values, expand opportunity for veterans, and support working families. I’m running again because there is more to do — from improving access to healthcare and rural broadband to continuing to back our farmers and small businesses.”

During his time in medical practice, he delivered approximately 12,000 babies. Stutts has made healthcare a top legislative priority. He currently serves as chair of the Senate Children and Youth Health Committee and as vice-chair of the Senate Healthcare Committee, and has sponsored and supported bills aimed at improving care and medical services for Alabama families. He has developed a reputation as one of the most conservative members of the Senate, both on fiscal issues and moral values.

“Representing the people of our area in Montgomery has been one of the highest privileges of my life,” Stutts said. “If reelected, I will continue fighting for common-sense solutions that help our families, keep our communities safe, our taxes low, and ensure our children have strong schools and better opportunities right here at home.”
