SUMMERDALE — Summerdale Police Chief Kevin Brock is on administrative leave following an investigation into personal matters.
In the meantime, Baldwin County Sheriff's Cpt. Clint Cadenhead is taking on chief responsibilities.
Summerdale Mayor David Wilson told 1819 News Brock was under a criminal investigation by the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office and that investigators turned over information to the Alabama Attorney General's Office.
"They [the Attorney General's Office] are pursuing the case and that's really all I know and so we placed him on administrative leave while we can figure out what's going on," Wilson said. "The sheriff's department has assisted our town with the management of our police department."
The town of Summerdale will hold a regular council meeting on July 10. A special-called meeting on the matter will be held on July 17. In the meantime, Wilson said things are going well despite officer shortages.
"The sheriff's office is also assisting us with patrolling the area since we are a little shorthanded," he said. "So, it's working pretty smooth right now. So, that's where we're at."
Brock served six years in the U.S. Air Force before working at Foley Police Department, Loxley Police Department and with the state of Alabama as a law enforcement officer. He was appointed chief of Summerdale in July 2018.
