Former Alabama star quarterback Jalen Hurts praised God immediately after winning his first Super Bowl on Sunday.
Hurts, who was named MVP, helped lead the Philadelphia Eagles to a 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. He credited God and his teammates for the blowout win.
In his MVP performance, Hurts completed 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He also led the team on the ground with 72 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
"You know, God is good," Hurts said in his on-field postgame interview. "He's greater than all the highs and the lows."
"Personally, myself, I've just been able to use every experience and learn from it. The good, the bad, all of it, using it as fuel to pursue my own greatness. I couldn't do any of these things without the guys around me. We've got a special group this year. We were able to learn from the past," he added.
Upon accepting the MVP trophy, Hurts repeated, "God is good."
