The Leeds Police Department released information about an incident involving suspected illegal immigrants.
According to police, a state trooper with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) stopped a vehicle carrying “possible illegal immigrants” on Interstate 20. The occupants of the vehicle resisted arrest, Leeds Police said, and fled into the woods.
Leeds Police assisted in a search, and the suspects were taken into custody near Bass Pro Shops.
“Thank you to all of the surrounding agencies for responding to assist in this capture and for being there to protect each other,” police stated.
The identities of the suspects have not been released.
