Several men were indicted Friday for discharging weapons into buildings in Chambers County.

Attorney General Steve Marshall said the charges are connected to charges filed in Lee County in March.

Jamaroun Dayshun Satterwhite, Demarious Ross, Timothy Bell, Alija Dayshun Moss-Rowel and Johnny Lee Thomas, III are facing a total of 12 charges.

Satterwhite, Ross and Bell were previously indicted on four counts in Lee County related to criminal enterprise crimes.

“Grand Juries across the state are returning indictments based upon the tools provided by the Alabama Legislature,” said Marshall. “The Alabama Criminal Enterprise Act—one of the most robust crime-fighting tools in the nation—gives prosecutors expanded authority to bring comprehensive indictments before Grand Juries. This law delivers enhanced penalties for gang members and tough mandatory prison time for anyone who possesses or uses a firearm to benefit a gang. These indictments prove that Alabama will not tolerate senseless gang violence.”

The new charges are as follows:

  • Satterwhite is charged with one count of Shooting into an Occupied Building or Automobile and one count of Shooting into an Unoccupied Building or Automobile and two counts of Possession, Use or Carrying a Firearm
  • Ross is charged with one count of Shooting into an Occupied Building or Automobile and one count of Possession, Use or Carrying a Firearm
  • Bell is charged with one count of Shooting into an Occupied Building or Automobile and one count of Possession, Use or Carrying a Firearm
  • Moss-Rowell is charged with one count of Shooting into an Occupied Building or Automobile and one count of Possession, Use or Carrying a Firearm
  • Thomas is charged with two counts of Possession, Use or Carrying a Firearm

The defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.
